Daegu Chapter of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association Supports Daegu Jeil Girls’ Commercial High School for “Specialized Contract-Type High School” Designation

Daegu Jeil Aims to Cultivate Talent in Smart Logistics
Joint Roundtable and MOU Signed for Specialized Program

On April 17, the Daegu Chapter of the Korea Women Entrepreneurs Association (Chairperson Lee Chang-eun, hereinafter "KWEA Daegu") and Daegu Jeil Girls’ Commercial High School (Principal Shin Hye-won, hereinafter "Daegu Jeil") held a joint roundtable and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the school’s participation in the Ministry of Education’s “Specialized Contract-Type High School” initiative.

This meeting was held as part of the school’s preparation to apply for the public project, which aims to train specialized talent linked to regional industries.

Daegu Jeil promoted this agreement to foster female talent in smart logistics, aligning with Daegu City’s “Logistics Hub City” initiative, which supports five major future industries including ABB, robotics, and future mobility.

Participating member companies included:

  • Youngil Engineering Co., Ltd. (CEO: Lee Chang-eun)

  • BS ENG Co., Ltd. (CEO: Jo Cha-nam)

  • Garam Textile (CEO: Kwon Sook-ja)

  • Ajin General Trading Co. (CEO: Seo Myung-hwa)

  • Won General Distribution (CEO: Shin Kyung-sook)

  • Egreen Hana Logistics Co., Ltd. (Chairperson: Yoo Ji-hee)

  • Sale Amber (CEO: Lee Eun-jung)

  • GL General Logistics Co., Ltd. (CEO: Jeon Kyung-rin)

KWEA Daegu led the effort to promote direct partnerships between these member companies and Daegu Jeil, with the aim of nurturing the next generation of women business leaders.

Principal Shin Hye-won of Daegu Jeil expressed her appreciation, stating,
“Direct partnerships between vocational high schools and companies are very difficult to establish, and I’m truly grateful for everyone’s active cooperation.”

Chairperson Lee Chang-eun of KWEA Daegu and CEO of Youngil Engineering said,
“As a proud alumna of Daegu Jeil, this agreement is personally meaningful to me. We will actively support the students through mentoring and business engagement so they can grow into future women CEOs.”

The Specialized Contract-Type High School program was introduced as a strategy to counter regional decline by helping students build sustainable career pathways within their local communities. In 2024, four consortiums from Daegu and six from Gyeongbuk have applied for the designation.
